Hi, I’m Alison Stanton. Most people call me Aly - a neighbor, parent, community volunteer, and someone who cares deeply about the future of San Marcos.
I’ve lived in San Marcos for over six years and in North County for more than four decades. My husband and I chose this community as the place to raise our family because of its natural beauty, strong schools, and the incredible people who call it home. We have two daughters - one in high school and one in middle school - and we’ve felt the true meaning of community through the friendships and support we’ve found here. I believe in leading by listening, and I’m excited to bring that same spirit of collaboration and care to our city council.
San Marcos is more than where we live—it’s where we raise our kids, build our futures, and care for our neighbors. As our city grows, we need thoughtful, transparent leadership that puts people first.
I’m running for City Council to bring a fresh, responsive voice to City Hall—one that listens, shows up, and believes every resident deserves to feel connected to their local government. I believe in practical solutions, honest communication, and decisions made in partnership with the community—not behind closed doors.
Connection is more than a slogan—it’s my commitment.
Whether we’re tackling housing, traffic, public safety, or climate resilience, I’ll make sure your voice is part of the conversation. Together, we can build a stronger, more connected San Marcos—neighborhood by neighborhood.
Professionally, I work remotely as a software consultant, which gives me a flexible schedule and the ability to stay actively involved in our neighborhood. I’ve served on my HOA board for over six years - five as treasurer - helping manage budgets, advocate for residents, and work toward long-term improvements that reflect community priorities.
I’m a strong believer in inclusive, thoughtful leadership. I’m passionate about sustainability, protecting the environment, supporting working families, and ensuring our neighborhoods are safe and connected.
When I’m not working or volunteering, you’ll usually find me tending to my garden or surrounded by house plants - I find joy and calm in watching things grow. I also love walking our local trails and spending time with my family.
